Colette's love of music started very early on in her life. She was playing guitar and writing songs at the age of 14. Her inspiration came from acoustic artists such as Joni Mitchell and Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young just to name a few. But to her dismay, her parents chose a life of academia for her. She went to a private school in Toronto then was sent away to Carlton University in Ottawa to become a lawyer. It was, however, short lived. Colette chose to drop out of university to pursue a career in music as a singer/songwriter and played the Toronto music circuit. She pursued it vigorously for many years, and never quite got her chance, and finally decided to give up the live aspect of performing, and concentrated on just studio recordings. She was now 34 and decided she needed a fall-back career. She had been working semi-professionally as an intuitive counselor since she had been 27, telling people to not bother trying to book another reading as she was a singer/songwriter and she could get signed at any moment. It was a way of creating an income while she chased her dream. And in that time her intuitive skills had become razor sharp. After eight yeas of absence from the recording studio, at the tender age of 41, Journey Though The Chakras caught the notice of EMI Music's Canadian president, Deane Cameron. Colette was signed to the EMI Music group to produce another meditation CD. She was flown to Los Angeles to work with producer Eric Rosse (Tori Amos, Lisa Marie Presley, Sara Bareilles). While she was there, the pair began writing songs and ended up recording three original songs. She flew back to Toronto, fearful of what the president of EMI would say, but to her surprise, he loved it. She was flown back to Los Angeles to finish recording the rest of what would become her critically acclaimed debut CD, Magdalene's Garden. A few years later she would follow it up with her sophomore CD I Am/Grace that was produced by the award winning team, Boomtang. She finally released her professional career as a recording artist when she was signed by Hay House Publishing, and her career as an Instuitive Counselor & Life Strategist was born.
