All the planets are named for gods. There are the Sun and Moon. And then, for about 4,000 years the line up consisted only of those planets visible to the human eye: Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn.
Then, with the invention of the telescope and resulting ability to view the most distant reaches of our solar system, Neptune, Uranus and finally, less than 100 years ago, Pluto, were added to the list.

During October I’ll be posting a series of articles about Halloween and related subject matter.
Maybe together, we can discover the reason(s) Halloween has become such a favored holiday with the American public.
Another subject that has captured the attention of the public …

“Science” has only been around for three hundred years.
Prior to the “language” of Science being invented, we knew about “things” simply because we “knew”.
That leaves much room for error…maybe.
When the subject of 2012 is brought up, the first thing people reference in conjunction with it is, “The Mayan Calendar”. And, in writing about errors in the unscientific, it’s interesting to note that the Mayan Calendar, when used in its totality, is (and has been) incredibly accurate in its predictions.
How, then, were they able to make such predictions if not armed …
