Intuition 101: What’s Love Got to Do with It?
Over the last several months, I’ve written many entries on using your intuition when it comes to love, dating, and relationships. I’ve talked about everything from reinventing your love life and changing your dating mindset to using your intuition when it comes to the scent of attraction and the sound of your date’s voice. Ultimately, trusting your intuition will help you much more than any how-to-date manual. But, what about the reverse—what does love have to do with enhancing your intuition and connection to the All That Is?
We often tend to think of love as an emotion or an expression, but it is so much more. Love is unconditional, accepting, inclusive, uniting, understanding, kind, and joining. It’s a freedom from fear and separateness. It’s about showing compassion and kindness to yourself and the world around you. It’s also commitment to reduce suffering and respect every creature and object. Love flows through every living being, connecting us to one another, the living planet, and the Divine. It’s what made you, your friends, and even the people who drive you crazy. It’s a part of our trees, oceans, mountains, and sky. Love is at the very essence of who we are.
While our ego minds tend to analyze, think, and judge, our hearts immerse us in love. Our world tends to place more emphasis on the ego, but your heart actually produces by far the body’s most powerful rhythmic electromagnetic field. Not the brain! In fact, according to major research by the Institute of HeartMath, the heart sends far more information to brain than the brain sends to the heart and the signals the heart sends to the brain can influence perception, emotional processing, and higher cognitive functions.
So, what impact would more love from your heart have on your mind and the world around you? As I talk about extensively in Remembering the Future, Love moves you beyond the ego mind chatter I call your Goblin. As you might remember from my Say Hello to Your Goblin blog, your Goblin keeps you stuck in separateness and breaks your connection with the All That Is. Through love and compassion, you put your Goblin to sleep, thus reigniting your intuition and limitless connection. Rather than search for differences, we see that everyone and everything is actually a part of us. We move beyond comparison, judgment, and competition to compassion and celebration of our diversities, which also bring us together as one.
In our culture today, egos are running most of the show. Much of our world is filled with war, division, prejudice, religious differences, suffering, poverty, and environmental disrespect. Love beckons us to look at our world and take responsibility for our collective human condition. What would happen if we really loved, totally and without condition?
Remember, intuition is seen, heard, felt, and known because of love.
Exercises:
First think about the many forms of love—for example, romantic love, platonic love, compassionate love, heart-centered love, and even tough love. What impact has each form of love had on your life? How can you nurture each form?
As I said above, love is about compassion, kindness, and unity. One powerful way to experience more love in our hearts and bring more to the world is through an act of kindness. This week, I encourage you to do something nice for someone without expecting anything in return. Perhaps anonymously buy coffee for the person behind you tomorrow morning. Or, leave flowers on your neighbor’s doorstep.
Lastly, meditate on your heart center. Sit comfortably in a quiet spot for 20 minutes. Begin by inhaling and exhaling for 15 breaths. Then bring you attention to your heart center as you continue to breath. Imagine that each time you take a breath, you’re inhaling all the love in the universe. Let it fill you completely. Then imagine your heart beaming love out to others—your family, friends, acquaintances, and all the people across the world. Next move the love out to all aspects of our planet—the trees, oceans, rocks, and even inanimate objects. Imagine the world filled with love as it moves through everyone and everything. How does this make you feel?
And, please share your thoughts on love and the exercises in the comments. We’re all building community and spreading more love through sharing ideas with one another!
Here is the Love meditation from my Remembering The Future Meditation Package.
In service and love,
Colette

Intuition 101: What?s Love Got to Do with It?…
I found your entry interesting do I’ve added a Trackback to it on my weblog
…
I just recently went thru some relationship issues and what I can say for sure is that the Goblin did a number on me. After doing a card reading, I realized that only I could stop the Goblin and reach for better thoughts. I did this with gratitude for all the existing properties I love about my husband and also by doing kind things for others. I took the focus off “me” and brought my attention to “I”. It took effort and awareness on my part and I have been able to see the transformation back to light. What you said about compassion, kindness and unity is true…I am doing my best to keep the focus on these words and feelings so that I may stay in the light and keep the Goblin and F.E.A.R from getting such a tight hold of me again. Thank you for the article. Love and blessings, Alina
Thank you, Thank you Colette! Beautiful.
Colette,
After the birth of each of my had kids my heart went through a period whee it burst to overflowing with love for them…this also translated into an increased love for everyone in the world. While the honeymoon effect has worn off somewhat, I find I have much higher levels of love to give others now, and I also find I have much more compassion for others.
It just shows that love is the gift that keeps on giving. The more love you get, the more you can give. The supply of love is infinite!
Kara
i’m creating a website and i called it: ‘love and intuition’, since to me that’s what enlighten our consciousness and give us way to enjoy our life.
..as always, dear colette, your reflections are deep and powerly meaningful, thank you!!

Hi Colette,
I just loved your blog on relationships.
Trish
Hi Colette,
For the past 2 years, I had a relationship with a guy who played games. Okay. I was a willing participant and we ended up breaking up for the second time. I believe that I have been repeating the unconscious pattern in three of my past relationships. I dated a young man with no problems, another young man (mama’s boy) with a drug problem, an abusive man with whole lots of problems, and finally a seemingly good hearted man who couldn’t stop playing mind games with me yet a mama’s boy. Just like that, I was single. Two months now and I’m trying to figure out my pattern of finding dysfunctional men. Who knew?
It’s been 2 months of singledom and I want to find Mr. Right instead of Mr. Dysfunctional. Is there any hope for me Colette or am I doomed to repeat the same dysfunctional pattern for the next couple of days?
Thanks for reading.
Trish

Daily Stars with Shelley von Strunckel
www.shelleyvonstrunckel.comThere are several interpretations for the current alliance between Venus and Uranus in your sign, all of which involve surprises. While some might be welcome, others could seem worrying, at least at first. In every case they're worth exploring. The more you learn, the more the resulting developments will delight you. By Shelley von Strunckel
It was only a week ago that the planet of vision, Neptune, moved into its own sign, Pisces. This triggered a period of questioning about certain values and objectives you've regarded as unchanging. Once, perhaps, they were. But this is bringing changes in the world around you and, in some way, in everybody's life. By Shelley von Strunckel
While you'd admit to flaws in your character, stubbornness is not one of them. You are, however, urged to examine several situations in which you've simply refused to consider making changes, if not letting go of plans. True, you regard these as essential. Ask a few questions, and you'll discover they're not. By Shelley von Strunckel
Logic will get you a long way. It eliminates confusion and enables you to discuss plans with a clear mind. However, certain tricky individuals require a very different approach. Central to this lighter touch is humour. Once you're able to view the proceedings with humour, you'll realise you've had a very real breakthrough. By Shelley von Strunckel
You sometime stick with a plan or a passion more out of ego than because of logical reasons. Think of this now, before you become so involved in certain arrangements you'd have trouble disentangling yourself from them. Out of character as taking it slowly may be, it's your best option. By Shelley von Strunckel
Don't make the mistake of thinking that there's honour in fighting for certain arrangements that once meant a great deal to you. Not only would keeping these in place be a distraction, once you say farewell to them you'll be free to focus on far more promising, if unexpected, ideas or offers. By Shelley von Strunckel
It's time to acknowledge the only way you'll resolve one especially tricky matter is by standing up to somebody who's a bully. You've tried to satisfy this particular individual, but nothing's worked. That's because you still haven't acknowledged the only thing that has an effect is a simple, head on, confrontation. By Shelley von Strunckel
Only days ago you were battling against the idea of potential alterations in elements of your way or living or activities out in the world. However, you've finally recognised just how much these changes are needed, enough you're actually considering others. This is wise. There are many areas where similar changes would be timely. By Shelley von Strunckel
There's a difference between showing interest in new ideas, which you are, and actually committing to them. You know this but others don't. Bear this in mind, or certain individuals could easily mistake your rather enthusiastic response to these developments as a commitment, when you're doing no more than asking questions. By Shelley von Strunckel
To you, trust is fundamental to any close alliance, personal, professional or otherwise. So when you witness events that raise questions about that trust, you worry, if not become suspicious. While at other times that might be merited, the odds are good there's a rational explanation. You need only ask. By Shelley von Strunckel
Only a week ago, after over a decade there, Neptune departed your sign for good. While you may not be able to describe any discernable change, you'll begin to notice your thinking is clearer and your convictions stronger. Soon this will be joined by a return of feelings of confidence you thought gone forever. By Shelley von Strunckel
If you think an idea is good, that's enough. In the past you've allowed others' questions or even the opposition of certain individuals to keep you from pursuing something you regarded as worthwhile, and to your regret. Now that a similar situation has arisen, ignore others and do what you think is best. By Shelley von Strunckel
