Slumdog Millionaire: The Final Installment in the Trilogy

So this is it.
Here’s what it all comes down to.
Do you believe in redemption?
In “Will the REAL Hero Please Stand Up” and “Will the REAL Hero Please Stand Up…The Sequel” I examine two brothers, Jamal and Salim Malik, from “Slumdog Millionaire”. The test was to ascertain which of them might be an authentic hero.
When observing Jamal, it’s obvious. He’s kind, generous, loving, forgiving, loyal, faithful, hardworking and always makes the right choices. Furthermore, it seems to come naturally for him. He makes it all look so easy.
But does his ease …

Astrology, Debra Silverman and the New Moon in Scorpio

On November 16, 2009 the New Moon will move into Scorpio.
This is some very powerful energy as Scorpio’s ruling planet is Pluto.
Scorpio is the eighth sign of the zodiac and represented by the Scorpion.
Those born under the astrological sign of Scorpio are intense, to say the very least.
I could write volumes about Scorpios and all the zodiac signs for that matter but, instead, I’d like to give you a very special gift and introduce you to Debra Silverman, M.A.
Debra is an astrologer and psychotherapist. In practice for over 32 years …

Slumdog Millionaire: Will the Real Hero Please Stand Up? The Sequel

In “Will the REAL Hero Please Stand Up”  I examined the hero Jamal Malik from “Slumdog Millionaire”.
In this post…the sequel…I’m examining Jamal’s older brother, Salim, to see if he can be aptly dubbed a “hero”…or not.
Now, I know this is “just” a movie so it makes no real sense why I’ve spent such an inordinately large amount of time hashing and re-hashing it but, if you haven’t seen “Slumdog Millionaire”, I can only tell you there are reasons aplenty why it came out of nowhere as a small-budget indie film …

Slumdog Millionaire: Will the Real Hero Please Stand Up?

Wow! Wow! WOW!
That’s all I could say when I saw Slumdog Millionaire and I’m still saying it now.
 WOW!
For anyone whose seen the movie, you’ll know why I’ve turned monosyllabic.
Every single thing about Slumdog Millionaire is fantastic. There are so many layers of the storyline I’ve spent for reliving every delicious moment.
For me, the movie’s extra meaningful because of the theme of my third book, The Quest to Have it All: Finding the path to purpose and peace and this year’s theme of the same for my radio show, The Quest to Have it All.
 Slumdog …

Colette’s Halloween Happenings: Art So Amazing…It’s Scary! (Part Two)

In , “Colette’s Halloween Happenings: Art So Amazing…It’s Scary! (Part One)“, I discussed The Quantum Theory as it relates to art and artist. I cited deviantART as the largest “laboratory” in existence for testing of this subject matter.
As stated in “Colette’s Halloween Happenings: Art So Amazing…It’s Scary! (Part One) “, deviantART did not start out as a mega-funded commercial site but, rather, as a passion project which grew organically. That fact seems to consternate some and deviantART has been dealt out some criticism by those who feel deviantART should be …

Colette’s Halloween Happenings: Art So Amazing…It’s SCARY! (Part One)

“As a human being the artist may have many moods and a will and personal aims, but as an artist he is ‘man’ in a higher sense – he is ‘collective man’ – one who carries and shapes the unconscious, psychic life of mankind”.
-Carl Jung

I remember learning that the brain stores, as a memory, every single thing it sees, hears…perceives.
Every single thing.
All those threads of perception are what we use to weave the tapestry of our actions, reactions, thoughts and emotions.
And, because it’s in the wee quiet hours of a …

Colette’s Halloween Happenings: Paganism 101

Because Halloween does have origins in Paganism and because I made a pledge earlier this year to do my share in the dispelling of misconceptions about the nature based traditions of Shamanism, Paganism and Wicca, I purposely waited until my Halloween Happenings launch to post this article.
Halloween is always full of surprises and, so, you might find a few in this blog!
In “Colette’s Halloween Happenings: Shamanism 101” and “Colette’s Halloween Happenings: Wicca 101” I explain a bit about the two, earth/nature based traditions (I prefer the term “tradition” to that …

Colette’s Halloween Happenings: Wicca 101

Other than “BOO!” and “What are you going as this year?”, the most notable expression pertaining to Halloween is, of course, “Trick or Treat!”.
And that has what to do with the subject of Wicca?
Well, Halloween is the time for witches (practicing and pretend) and most people associate witches with Wicca.
Now, here’s the trick…they’re wrong.
And the treat?
Real information which leads to knowledge.
Candy runs a close second though and if I could figure out a way to get some to you through my computer screen I would!
All Wiccans are witches but not all …

Colette’s Halloween Happenings: Shamanism 101

I don’t think I can ever recall anyone I know choosing to be a Shaman for Halloween.
But I do know several Shaman who went to a party as The Three Stooges.
Hey, even the most spiritual of people can have a great sense of humor!
Within my social circle, there’s a shared love and respect for the natural world which is quite profound.
Because of this, we’re always discussing ways and methods to bring us even more in balance with nature.
We’re constantly reading, listening and watching for more information to exchange, understanding the …

Colette’s Halloween Happenings: Orbs; What…or Who… Are They?

Retail sales (in the USA) of Halloween related products almost equal that of Christmas.
Those are big numbers.
And there are those who predict Halloween sales will supercede that of Christmas within the next couple years.
So, why have sales for Halloween gained such momentum? What is it about Halloween, in particular, that appeals so to the public?
During October I’ll be posting a series of articles about Halloween and related subject matter.
Maybe together, we can discover the reason(s) Halloween has become such a favored holiday with the American public.
Another subject that has captured the attention of the public …
