Astrology & 2012: The End…Perhaps

Over the past two days alone, I’ve received two emails about the year 2012.
One includes channelled information about the Mayan predictions in regard to this period.
These said the world is not about to come to an end.
But there are numerous books that interpret the writing of this Central American culture as stating very clearly that our days are numbered.
I also received a request from one of the newspapers for which I write asking me to comment on the rumours now circulating not as a result of these books, but because …

Astrology: I Can’t TAKE it Anymore!

Most of us are living in an era, and in circumstances that mean we ignore the cycle of the Moon, from the sliver of a crescent that follows the New Moon to the luminous smile of the Full Moon, about two weeks later. While, once this cycle was noted in ritual, at home and in places of worship – and still is in some cultures – that tradition and the accompanying lore have been largely lost.
In fact, often, those who live in densely populated urban areas are so busy that …

Medical Psychic Intuitive: Squirreling Behavior – Don’t Let it Make You Nuts!

It’s fall.
The days are getting shorter and I have that annual compulsion to shop like a
squirrel.
You know, scurry around for those staples, collecting the “nuts” and bolts of what I think I will need to   survive for the upcoming winter.
For the furry animals outside,  the  objects collected stored and hoarded for future use are  acorns and other food, twigs, leaves and other blankets to  survive the months of snow and ice.
And even though I am in the  safety of my own warm  home I, and maybe you, have the same  “squirreling” instinct. We …

Numerology: What Happened to James Arthur Ray?

You may know him from the movie ‘The Secret.’ James Arthur Ray, listed as Philosopher, was one of the cast members.
Now he’s much more widely known for an incident that happened earlier this month.
On October 8 near Sedona, Arizona James Arthur Ray was leading a weeklong workshop.
As the leader of his ‘Spiritual Warrior’ event, Ray had pushed participants to go with no sleep and enter into altered states of mind through breathing exercises.
They also competed in a game in which he played God.
The sweat lodge ceremony happened soon after a …

Astrology: Mars and The Warrior Inside Us All

The other day I was discussing the role of the planet Mars in a particular individual’s chart.
Mars is often defined as the planet of war and aggression.
But that way of looking at it is more a by-product of the past couple of decades of violent films than it is an accurate assessment of this far more complex planet – and the energy it signifies in each of our lives.
At its most fundamental, it is the ruler of the sign Aries – the sign which commences as the vernal equinox takes …

Numerology: Boy Trapped in Balloon and How Number 16 Attracts Surprises

Last week a homemade UFO-looking balloon soared 7,000 feet over Colorado after a boy, thought to be inside, set it loose from his parents’ home.
One of his older brothers said he saw the boy get into the craft, raising concerns that the boy may have fallen out of it.
Thankfully he was found later hiding in a box in the attic.
Meanwhile, I wanted to know more, so I checked the little boy’s current name.
Turns out ‘Falcon Heene’ adds up to 16/7 in the ancient Chaldean system I use to calculate your …

Astrology: Finding Your Perfect Match

When I meet somebody new or encounter a stranger and it’s discovered that I am an astrologer, the question I’m asked most frequently is, bizarrely, “What sign am I?”
My response depends on my mood.
If I’m feeling patient, I’ll jokingly ask if they don’t know.
Ha ha ha.
But if I’m feeling a little more short-tempered, I’ll respond that, as I’m not a clairvoyant, I don’t know.
However, that question is really what might be termed a nuisance query; something that is designed to be irritating.
 But next question isn’t provocative.
And it is usually asked …

Renewal and Personalizing the Meaning of Halloween

Have you ever been taken up with the feeling of electric excitement, but you don’t know why?  Ever been consumed by prickles of exuberant anticipation – but not sure about what?  You just know something incredible is right around the corner.
For me, the meaning of Halloween embodies these sensations.  This time of year, there is magic crouched behind every frosty pumpkin, delicious anticipation waiting in every bite of fresh baked apple pie, and crazy delight dancing in the heart of every costumed child.
The whole month of October lends itself to …

Astrology: Dreading Saturn

All of the planets’ names are derived from myths.
And while few of the Greek and Roman gods are meant to have lived exemplary lives, Saturn’s was particularly unappealing.
Having been told one of his offspring would kill him and usurp his power, he devoured each at birth. Eventually his long suffering wife Rhea, caught on and handed Saturn a stone instead of little Uranus who did, indeed, grow up to end his father’s life and take over power.
At the moment, Sun sign columns – including mine – are all brimming with …

Astrology: Embracing the Underworld

All the planets are named for gods. There are the Sun and Moon. And then, for about 4,000 years the line up consisted only of those planets visible to the human eye: Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn.
Then, with the invention of the telescope and resulting ability to view the most distant reaches of our solar system, Neptune, Uranus and finally, less than 100 years ago, Pluto, were added to the list.
The star planet in today’s blog is Pluto.
The dark god.
Seriously scary.
Ruler of the Underworld. But also, the only god …
