A Birthday Wish
Someone sent me a birthday wish via email titled “birthday wishes sample”. Naturally I thought it was for me since my birthday is in July but when I opened it was a birthday wish of another kind.
If you’re looking for a birthday wishes sample, I’ve got hundreds of thousands to share with you…and they are all written to one, amazing woman; Aung San Suu Kyi – Pro-democracy leader of Burma…Nobel Peace laureate…19 year political prisoner.
Now, political and social commentary is not what I do.
My reasoning for raising awareness of the story of Aung San Suu Kyi, is because her saga has a much larger impact than on that of the its originating destination (Burma).
And my call to action on the same, is because my love of our world and everything and everyone in it.
The story of Aung San Suu Kyi and “64 for Aung San Suu Kyi” is a profound example of the dimensional shift, 2012 and how it is changing us forever no matter how many do not, currently, recognize or know about it .
For those of you unfamiliar with Suu, she is the daughter of Aung San – Burmese revolutionary, nationalist and recognized as the man who brought about Burma’s independence from British Colonial rule. He was assassinated when Suu was two years old.
Following in her father’s footsteps, Suu has spoken out for human rights and democracy. The resulting 19 years she’s spent imprisoned because of her advocacy has earned her the title of the “world’s most renowned female prisoner of conscience”.
The governmental regime in Burma is infamous for their particularly barbaric brand of tyranny. During Suu’s incarceration she’s had to forgo being with her children and, when her husband was dying of cancer, the Burmese government told her she may visit him but if she did, she would never be allowed to return to Burma.
Suu made the gut wrenching decision to stay, so that she may best serve the people of Burma and the beliefs she has so courageously waged a peaceful war for.
For me, most moving about Suu and her actions, is the impetus behind it all. Suu explains her reasoning for engagement is a “revolution of the spirit”:
“…the quintessential revolution is that of the spirit, born of an intellectual conviction of the need for change in those mental attitudes and values which shape the course of a nation’s development. A revolution which aims merely at changing official policies and institutions with a view to an improvement in material conditions has little chance of genuine success. Without a revolution of the spirit, the force which produced the iniquities of the old order would
continue to be operative, posing a constant threat to the process of reform and regeneration.
Some have questioned the appropriateness of talking about such matters as metta (loving kindness) and thissa (truth) in the political context. But politics is about people and what we had seen in Thamanya proved that love and truth can move people more strongly than any form of coercion…”
At the heart of my decision to post about a political prisoner is one thing…gratitude.
If you view Suu’s position as, simply, another human working out their sacred contract then we, all, must honor her decision and commitment to come into this life knowing she may live it thusly.
Meaning…there is always free will. There certainly was the chance Suu’s persecutors would have gone in a different direction and not wrongfully imprisoned her. There was also the chance Suu, herself, would choose a different path.
When her soul came to those crossroads, she chose the path hardest for her yet most beneficial to millions.
And now, the entire world is reacting to the choice made by one woman’s soul.
Blog posts, tweets, texts…any tool used to raise “awareness” is being operated at the proverbial warp speed.
The lessons humanity is learning are incalculable; love, forgiveness, healing, courage, strength, unity…grace…are but a very few.
The worldwide mass unification of thought and energy working for a greater cause…a greater woman…the mass desire to be part of that unification…is a single eloquent statement made by millions.
Millions of people are knowingly and purposefully acting to remedy Suu’s imprisonment. They understand Suu’s mission in speaking of “spiritual matters in a political arena”. They understand they must do their share to help her cause because the globalized effort is amassing such an energy as I wonder if it will register on the Global Coherence Initiative’s satellite tracking system.
As this cause gathers momentum, the magnetic energy shift could easily bring about a spike in the graphs.
Whether this happens or not, Suu is doing far more than her share to help us transition through 2012.
Thank you Aung San Suu Kyi for your demonstration of a profound love for the world and its people. You are fulfilling your sacred contract…and then some.
June 19, 2009 is Suu’s 64th birthday.
On the website – www.64forsuu.org – you can post 64 words in support of Suu, her birthday and freedom.
Make the time to read other’s “64 words”. As a birthday wishes sample, there’s nothing like it.
And…please post your own “64 words”.
Be part of the “revolution of the spirit”.
Love, Colette
P.S. If you’re reading this post after June 19th, not to worry – please post anyway. The sending of love and support knows no time limits.
