Astrology: Finding Your Perfect Match
When I meet somebody new or encounter a stranger and it’s discovered that I am an astrologer, the question I’m asked most frequently is, bizarrely, “What sign am I?”
My response depends on my mood.
If I’m feeling patient, I’ll jokingly ask if they don’t know.
Ha ha ha.
But if I’m feeling a little more short-tempered, I’ll respond that, as I’m not a clairvoyant, I don’t know.
However, that question is really what might be termed a nuisance query; something that is designed to be irritating.
But next question isn’t provocative.
And it is usually asked with enormous sincerity – if not a certain urgency.
That question is “What sign is the best match for me?”.
It would appear that too many newspapers and magazines have printed just too many graphs showing which sign goes with which, and this has left a public believing that if somebody would just tell them their ideal partner’s sign, they’d live happily ever after.
Not surprisingly, it isn’t that easy.
The signs are rather like nationalities.
If Aries are the Italians of the zodiac, Taureans are the French, Geminis the Danes and Cancerians the Americans…(this is only an example – no more!).
But just as you couldn’t say that every Italian would get along with every French person, so expecting one sign of the zodiac to be a perfect match to another is completely unrealistic.
Yet the myth of the perfect match persists.
Of course often the actual birth charts of two individuals are compared.
I often do this for clients. And not just for marriage.
It’s offers incredibly useful information in business, dealing with colleagues or in hiring. And in the family, understanding a child’s chart can smooth out one of life’s most challenging relationships.
But it is true, charts are compared when considering marriage. Clients come, asking about a potential partner. And, of course, in Asia, often it will be parents who are considering a match for a son or daughter, will ask that the charts be compared.
This can be enormously illuminating.
While the sign in which the Sun is positioned might be noted, it is by no means the deciding factor.
Actually the relative positions of the Mercury of each individual – for communication – and the Saturn of each, for stability, will be noted. It’s like a corporate merger, in which the balance sheets of each are examined.
Interestingly, Venus, the planet of romance, is less important than the others.
But then, in such matches, the couple doesn’t expect to be swept away by romantic passion. On the contrary, whether they’ve actually met before or not – and still, today, many will have not met – they expect to get to know each other…over time. And they expect love to grow gradually.
I, personally, know several very happy and contented couples whose marriages were arranged. And because they trusted others – their parents and families – to make a perfect match, gave themselves time to know and understand each other.
It’s a very different approach from seeking “the right” sign of the zodiac and expecting an easy ride.
While few in the West have families who’ll do the match-making, it is possible to view the search for the perfect partner or the process of learning to live happily with the one you have with the same tolerance as exists in the East…allowing love to grow, letting understanding and trust develop over time.

Interesting post. I’m a Leo and love it! It suits me perfectly. Not sure if being with a Leo guy is in my best interest. It would be one heck of passionate, fiery relationship!
I believe destiny is in the driver seat the problem here is in the belief. Some find each other through others but no matter what method you use it still involves belief. The ability to trust that in the end it is preordain that the Universe creates as we create together, to the best possible beginning of every ending possiblity. I met my husband years before we even dated I was only in my teens then. One day I saw him with different eyes that met the soul and 37 years later we are still married. I believe it’s because we were connected long before we even knew of each other and then the Universe tied the knot. Some of us feel we are not whole unless we belong just remember we are all connected through love that can never die. When you stop and remember you don’t need someone to complete you because you are the the gift God gave to our world. I want to say to those that feel alone you are the gift and thank you. Remember it is all about who you choice to be with in your heart and soul and its not always about your spouse but that friend, sister or cousin feel the connection with your heart and you’ll never feel alone. Thank you for reading. Love to All

www.shelleyvonstrunckel.comWhile, obviously, it's important that you think out plans, waste no time on painstaking details. Judging by the coming weeks' planetary activity, even the simplest of arrangements are likely to be revised, and often. Knowing that, you're better off keeping things loose, confident that you'll deal with those refinements later on. By Shelley von Strunckel
During tricky periods, such as the one you've been going through recently, it's easy to become discouraged about ever finding a solution. Don't give up. Actually, with your ruler Venus brilliantly aspecting the intuitive Neptune, an unexpected but inspiring idea or concept could solve these dilemmas, and in a twinkling. By Shelley von Strunckel
The problem with the cycle of unexpected change currently taking place isn't the sudden nature of events. It's the humourless reaction of certain individuals to what, in reality, are rather amusing developments. Don't let their tendency to take things so seriously make you feel that, somehow, you must as well. By Shelley von Strunckel
Tempting as it is to inform others you've no intention of making a decision until you can make one you're comfortable with, you'd be inviting discord. Instead, simply opt for what seems most sensible now, explaining loudly and clearly that you regard it as tentative. Then when adjustments are necessary, nobody can complain. By Shelley von Strunckel
As much as you enjoy a lively exchange of ideas, especially with those who have something interesting to say, you quickly reach a saturation point. Still, at the moment there's a great deal to learn. Enough that although you're feeling both bored and restless, it's worth hanging in there. You'll see. By Shelley von Strunckel
Urgent as certain practical or financial issues seem, bear in mind that you're examining them in a climate of change. What's more, with your ruler Mercury retrograde, simple misunderstandings could add another layer of confusion. Knowing that, talk through every option, but steer clear of commitments that couldn't be altered at a later date. By Shelley von Strunckel
Occasionally it's important to confront those who're being unkind or unfair, even you're not directly involved. As a Libra you prefer to keep the peace. However, those who have no respect for civilised behaviour upset you. And quite rightly. You'll feel better for having stood up for what you think right. By Shelley von Strunckel
Planning ahead may be a good idea. At the moment, however, it could also get you into trouble. With Mercury retrograde until the 12th, and causing confusion in both practical matters and the most fundamental of conversations with others, even the simplest of arrangements is unlikely to remain as you intended. By Shelley von Strunckel
Every New Moon is about a fresh perspective. And because next week's accents your activities out in the world and goals in life, the moment has come to reflect on exactly such matters. However, this is only time for reflection. Make no lasting decisions until after you benefit from this period's profound insights. By Shelley von Strunckel
Annoying as the minor errors that accompany Mercury's retrograde cycle are, they can be amazingly revealing. The secret is to do more than put things right. Begin asking questions about the source and cause of those problems and what you learn could mean you're able to put them to rest for good. By Shelley von Strunckel
Obviously you feel a certain loyalty to those friends and colleagues who've been part of your life for so long. But that doesn't mean their views should influence your relationship with somebody new. If the attitude of those individuals is unwelcoming, recognise that it could be a case of simple jealousy. By Shelley von Strunckel
Take full advantage of the current intense planetary focus on joint ventures in general, and on financial issues in particular, while you can. Ideally, you'll do it now, since with both Venus and Mars departing this angle of your chart next week, things could change. And far more swiftly than you'd anticipated. By Shelley von Strunckel
