Susan Boyle, YouTube & Spirit

 Susan Boyle, YouTube and Spirit

“I was slightly brain damaged at birth, and I want people like me to see that they shouldn’t let a disability get in the way. I want to raise awareness – I want to turn my disability into ability.”

The above quote belongs to, none other than, Susan Boyle, the, now, world famous vocal phenom whose story and videos have gone viral in record breaking numbers and at record breaking speed.

In fact, as of April 20, 2009, the YouTube video of Susan Boyle, was skyrocketing toward becoming the most viewed video in the history of YouTube.

In just nine days, the video garnered over 100 million views…100 MILLION.

Celebrities are clamoring to get her on their shows, journalists and bloggers the world over have dug deep into their online Thesaurus’ for catchy alliterated metaphors and there’s no way to calculate the Tweets about Susan.

At this point, I’ve read dozens of stories, watched dozens of commentaries and listened to dozens of conversations about Susan Boyle.

Both CNN and USA Today have published fine articles about why we’re infatuated with the talented, darling, Susan.

In these two articles, terrific observations about the why’s and wherefore’s of the world’s being incited by Susan’s performance are…well…cited.

You see, Susan has transcended the odds. Susan has inspired, been courageous and served as a reminder dreams really do come true.

There’s endless rhetoric about why we love her, why there’s a media storm surrounding the story and why this all happened.

But, until now, no one has addressed “how”.

How did this happen?

My response to all the hoopla…to the “how”… is uncomplicated.

The following quote is from my book “Messages From Spirit”.

“In Spirit we belong; in Spirit we are one”

It’s that simple.

If I sum up the world’s reaction, it’s as easy “as we are one” and “love”.

And…it is that easy…but…not.

Clearly, if everyone knew and accepted we are one and treated themselves and each other accordingly I wouldn’t be writing this post. I would think it, feel it and, simultaneously, so would everyone else.

Clearly, if love were in practice as the “all there is”…well…you know.

We’re not there in our evolution, in our awakening, yet, but Susan Boyle’s story is a brilliant example of how far we’ve come.

Because I only know Susan’s personal story as I’ve read about her online, I can only address the “how” relevant to the information I, currently, have.

At the beginning of this post, I led in with a quote from Susan, herself.

Perhaps in a sacred contract she made prior to her birth we may believe that she chose to come in with the challenge of brain damage and the dream of being a singer. Two seemingly incongruous agendas.

Even if I stopped here…at the love Susan’s soul must have for the rest of us…it would be enough to answer the “how“.

To offer herself up in such a manner…to knowingly come into this life willing to face all the hardships a mental challenge can bring, willing to live that paradigm for all the lessons it will help teach others (as well as yourself) and then willingly open yourself up to worldwide public opinion and scrutiny in order to live your dream and use the experience as an inspirational vehicle for others with challenges…that…is love.

Consider the song she chose to sing, as her world debut, from “Les Miserables”;

And Susan’s mother encouraged her to pursue her dreams and supported her at every turn.

Even when Susan’s mum could have opted to try and shelter her daughter from ridicule or disappointment…or shield herself or the rest of the family even…she honored Susan’s love for music and the positive energy created for all every time Susan opened her mouth to sing.

Guess what? There’s even more love coming your way.

Of all the stories in all the world, Susan Boyle’s story has humanity doing the wave.

That means how many millions saw the story, felt positive energy and clicked “forward”…or “send to”…instantly wanting to share the feeling with someone they care enough about to do so?

Again, Susan’s video (to date) has been viewed over 100 million times.

Who can say how many millions upon millions of conversations there’ve been about her??

No matter how you look at it…that’s a whole lot of love.

Thank you, Susan and YouTube, for your generous contribution to all of us.

Thank you, Spirit, for all.

Originally I had seen things posted on facebook and what-not, but I just judged her as looking strange and also probably some media fad frenzy. While at church one Sunday morning, they showed her clip, I immediately had goosebumps. I know have a picture of Susan taped to my wall right above my light switch. There are so many message within her story that I use this picture of a reminder of all that life means.
