Stuck in a Rut? Move from Boredom to Intuitively changing things up!
Are you getting tired of the same old routine? Is your each day just like the one before? Do you feel like the walls are closing in?
A certain amount of routine can be comforting and good. But, if we stay in the familiar too long, we stagnate and stop growing. While our Goblin egos might love the idea of keeping everything the same, our soul and higher self long for us to grow. When you’re stuck in a rut, you might start to feel bored, stuck, lonely, sad, depressed, or hopeless—all signs that your soul is calling to you to do something different. Routine and boredom also shut down your intuition and connection to Spirit.
One of the quickest ways to get out of a rut is to mix things up. Even if you feel that your entire life needs an overhaul, small steps really do turn into big ones. For example, I have a friend who was very stuck a few years ago. She didn’t like her job, wanted to move to a new city, and was tired of the same old routine. Just to spice things up, she started trying new things like going out to dinner on her own, taking tennis lessons, and getting a different haircut. The more she mixed things up, the more confident she was to make the big changes. She also became more connected to Spirit and developed the courage to trust her intuition when it was time to make the big decisions. Today she has a new job in a different city, and continues to mix things up!
Another great way to get out of a rut is to focus on service. Often when we’re stuck, we also become focused on ourselves. Well, to put it bluntly, we become self-centered. And then our Goblins have a great big party! As I talked about in Remembering the Future as well as my recent Say Hello to Your Goblin blog, your Goblin represents your wounded ego. When you let it run the show, you get stuck in the same frustrating patterns and lose your connection to Spirit. Focusing on others takes you out of your ego “Me Bubble,” ignites your contact with Spirit, and fires up your intuition.
So, whether your job or relationship is no longer stimulating, you’re less than thrilled to get out of bed in the morning, or you just want to strengthen your intuition, it’s time to focus on service and mix things up!
Exercise:
Mix it up: Do something different this week! It could be anything from trying a new food, wearing something you rarely put on, going to the movies alone, taking lessons, etc.
Be of service: Find a way to be of service to others. Perhaps volunteer at a shelter, do a walk for charity, or help a friend move. Just do find a way to contribute to the world around you!
Love,
Colette
P.S. Let us know what you did to mix things up this week and share your own ideas on getting out of a rut.

That makes so much sense, I have been there done that , and looking back, I realize It was spirit telling me and guiding me to do something different, although I was afraid to get away from my comfort zone, but once I did, my whole life changed for the better!
I find so much inspiration on your website and also can not wait for you to visit South Africa.
The highlight of my day is to draw a card and when I am unable to log on, I feel an emptiness, but am fortunate in that I have a set of yor Wisdom of the Hidden Realm cards which I absoloutely love. They have replaced most other card sets which I have and I am looking forward to buying the Wisdom of Avalon cards as well.
Thank you for your time, your inspiration and your giving
Ella
This article fits me to a “T”! I have been trying to do things by myself for a while as I want to change jobs and location of residence. I am taking a second trip to really check out areas I may want to relocate and job opportunities.
I did a reading for a friend yesterday. I felt so good when she said it really helped her gain clarity on her situation!
Yay.
I agree 100%. Change is great for healing and LOA. I encourage clients to spring clean mind, body and spirit. Do something out of character: go dancing, skinny dip, read a new author’s work, listen to new music, change bedrooms, move furniture, turn the television and computer of for a week. Change is only limited by imagination. Be brave. Great post.
Spot on! Just what I needed to read this morning. CBR’s website is my homepage that I visit every morning to start my day and this was exactly what I needed to hear, when I needed to hear it. So…I’m going to try the suggestions and I’ll let you know how it goes:)
Love it! I think routine – that senseless doing of the same things over and over again – is the enemy of consciousness! And at the end of the day, if we do what we’ve always done, we get the same results. Small changes can make such a huge difference and keep us moving …
Blessings,
Andrea
Hi Colette,
For some reason, I felt compelled to write to you, rather to your blog. I’m a MicMac Native woman, closing in on 35 years old next week, and I am a recovering alkie. Two things we share is that we are both spiritual and recovering alcoholics. You pro’lly don’t remember me but, I’ve been suffering this affliction for most of my life and didn’t realize it. I still am. Some days, I want to crawl out of my skin and find the biggest hole there is and hide from the world. I’m also a sensitive person and maybe very intuitive like yourself. I can hear my guide and other spirits around me. And I’ve always wondered, much like tonight, the great purpose to my clairaudience. Is it go gradually mad or to help enlighten others with my gift? I wish that I had your ability to go out there and help others. I actually have serious self esteem issues and so many that I’d rather not say. I’ve been through a lot in one lifetime. Feels as though I’m living two lifetimes in one.
I understand that, as a young woman, you suffered through some sex abuse. I’ve also went through abuse myself with different people in my life. I won’t say but, I’m sure that you already know.
I wish that someday I can write or do something with all of the personal experiences I endured over the years and help others either psychically or in some small way.
Thank you again for reading this comment and know that I admire everything you do for others. Spirit definitely wanted me to want to you tonight for some reason.
Trish

www.shelleyvonstrunckel.comOnce you understand that this is one of those times when you can succeed or have things your way, but not both, everything else will be simple. The problem is that while your objectives once made sense, the actual circumstances you're dealing with have changed. Success demands you rethink those goals. By Shelley von Strunckel
Some changes are easy to understand and as easily dealt with. Those you're contending with at the moment, however, are far more complicated. This is primarily because they involve changes far more complex than you've previous contemplated. Disruptive as they seem, the world around you is changing and so, too, must you. By Shelley von Strunckel
This is a period of breakthroughs. While in some cases you recognise why certain changes are necessary and what you'll gain from them, others seem no more than a nuisance. Ironically, those that you regard as the greatest source of irritation now will prove the most beneficial, and in the shortest time. By Shelley von Strunckel
Initially, others' suggestions may be more to their taste than anything you'd want to get involved in. As it happens, they know you better than you think. Enough that in this particular case it's worth at least exploring what they have in mind. Once you do, you'll wonder why you hesitated for even a moment. By Shelley von Strunckel
Ordinarily you'd never commit to something or, indeed, somebody without at least being enthusiastic about it. Ideally, you want to feel passion. There are, however, one or two situations in which logic must prevail over those feelings. Dull as this is from your perspective, it's by far the best approach. By Shelley von Strunckel
Challenging as some of the situations you're currently facing may be, they'll all preparing you for the amazing offers promised by the planetary activity in about a week's time. What's taking place now is, on one hand, clearing out the old and, on the other, slowing introducing exciting new developments. By Shelley von Strunckel
Personal issues can be dealt with according to mood and convenience. Business or money matters need to wait until you've gathered facts enough to have a reasonable discussion. That certainly isn't the case now and probably won't be until your ruler Venus' clash with Pluto, in the middle of next week. By Shelley von Strunckel
Obviously, sometimes sudden changes in routine can be avoided. This is exactly what you're facing. The problem is, you're concerned one particular individual will interpret your absence from various social events as reason for concern. While it's worth explaining, such matters bother you but they worry others far less than you think. By Shelley von Strunckel
It's not that things are unsettling. Actually, you rather enjoy the challenge of coming to terms with the new and unexpected. It's that those around you are anxious, complaining about the impact of changes or actually suffering. There's only one solution, and that's to encourage them to explore, just as you do. By Shelley von Strunckel
During periods of rapid and unpredictable change, such as this is, there's a tendency to stick with the familiar. However, this could mean that, while others are exploring, you're learning nothing. The trick is to ensure you're out and about, learning what you can, yet retain a safe port to retreat to when necessary. By Shelley von Strunckel
From your perspective, loyalty means being there, no matter what. Bear in mind that not everybody thinks the same way. This is especially important now, because somebody you've trusted could seem to be distancing themselves from you when, in reality, they've sudden and very demanding obligations. There's no reason for concern. By Shelley von Strunckel
Waste no time justifying what your intuition tells you to those who insist all such matters are nonsense, as many do. Should they challenge you, smile and say no more. However, when those who have sincere questions want more information, tell them what you can. It could change their life. By Shelley von Strunckel
