Avatar and Messages From Spirit (part one)
Rarely…and I mean rarely…do I make a statement like this;
If you have one spiritual bone in your body you must see the Avatar movie.
I open with this call to action because a surprising number of people I know communicated to me they were not planning to see Avatar.
The excuses were comprised mostly of “it’s too ‘Hollywood’, too predictable and too much like a video game because of all the computer graphics”, etc.
How they could make that determination after seeing the Avatar trailer (which I watched at least one hundred times before going to see Avatar) I don’t know but…
Avatar is futuristic and it’s visionary, in much the same manner Star Wars was when it premiered in 1977 – thirty three years ago.
Even if your personal tastes don’t include fantasy, futuristic, sci-fi, space or ‘epic battle between good and evil’ movies, Avatar is absolutely worth watching if for no other reason than its ground breaking spirituality.
Now, there have been movies which, of course, have been filled with ‘messages’ whether they be spiritual, societal, ethical, moral or combination of all these and any I may have missed.
Movies where, in the eleventh hour, even when the audience is sure this will be the one movie to break formula and the bad guys will win, something happens and the good guys triumph once more. Thus proving hope springs eternal and justly so.
Of course, Avatar is not the first movie with spiritual overtones and messages. Though, in the reviews I’ve been reading about Avatar, it’s being touted as sending out a loud ‘Green’ message rather than ’spiritual’ one.
No matter.
You say tomato, I say tomahto.
So why, then, am I compelled to write a series of articles about Avatar? What is it about this particular movie when others have had a similar bent?
My book Messages From Spirit; The Extraordinary Powers of Oracles, Omens and Signs, is a best seller.
Why?
Because we want and need to know the Divine is reaching out to us – communicating with us. But we’ve forgotten how to see and hear Spirit – even when the signs and omens are blatant rather than subtle.
Messages From Spirit is a blueprint, an outline, of the hundreds of ways Spirit speaks to us everyday.
And there’s the rub.
Yes, other movies have had ’similar’ messages of the Divine but nothing, in my estimation, which even comes close to the number, range or depth of Avatar.
In fact, the very concept, creation and release of Avatar is nothing short of a communication directly from Spirit in an effort to, as always, offer divine guidance via a masterful co-creation with all who are responsible for the film. It is my belief a movie such as Avatar is a gift from Spirit so we can utilize its omens and make our way back to our own divinity in a more timely fashion.
As of today, January 3, 2010, I’ve seen the Avatar movie only once but that is enough for me to weave a hundred articles around. As I see Avatar again and again and again – and I will – I’m certain Spirit will show me more and more to write about.
In Avatar and Messages From Spirit (part two) I’ll explore the very most basic spiritual foundations upon which I believe the Avatar movie is set.
They are not what you might think…

I can’t wait to see what you write, Colette.
I was going to submit an article to your site entitled “Avatar: Close but Yet so Far.”
I think the message was there, but they just didn’t take it far enough. I think they got scared (or had too many cool helicopter effects they wanted to add).
I’m intrigued to see what you post.
Karen
You are absolutely 100% correct on this one, Colette! Avatar is not just a movie, it is a spiritual EXPERIENCE!! There are SO MANY moments in the movie that remind us of our \connections\ to each other, to our planet, and to our spirit, as well as the reasons why so many have forgotten those connections along the way. I too look forward to your postings on this movie–it’s so nice to be able to resonate with another who saw, felt, heard, and \remembered\ what I did from that magical movie experience!
And I also will be seeing it again, and again and…..
Dorie
Colette, thank you for posting this. I’m looking forward to more articles on Avatar! I had the very same reaction to the movie and I’m not a sci-fi girl by any stretch. The messages of connectedness and transitioning through dimensions and living in peace and harmony were profound.
It’s my understanding that to recoup money the studios released Avatar worldwide along with its domestic release. I’m heartened to know we are all having the Avatar experience simultaneously throughout the world.
Thanks again! Looking forward to your insights as always.

I loved the movie, it was incredible. I agree, it was definitly a call from spirit, the connections made with nature, the love, and the beauty. It is a deep reminder of what is real in spirit, and what challenges are seen in other worlds our outside of us, its definitly a “real” movie. I think this planet is coming closer into its true essense of spiritual understanding, and its growing – this is a good thing. I am looking forward to reading more of what you have to say, what insights you got – it will be so incredible to connect with nature the way they did in the movie – I beleive this is already happening in a more advanced civilization.
As an aspiring writer, especially screenwriter, it’s encouraging to see that a Hollywood film maker would make a movie such as Avatar. My teleplay that I completed has a “spiritual” undertone to it. In fact, my feature film and book ideas have “spiritual” and personal development undertones to them. You can entertain and teach at the same time! And, Avatar is a great example of creativity, especially the CGI.
I loved the movie and absolutely got the messages. We are all connected to everyone and everything. The movie made me very sad because it really illustrated clearly what needs to change on our planet. Profit and greed at the expense of whoever gets in the way is the challenge, and that is a really huge challenge.
I loved the tree of souls and how everything on the plant was connected. I also loved the messages about having respect for all life.
I so loved the movie, Avatar. I knew that it would be good, but it was absolutely good. It is a message from Spirit. It is a future viewing of the past. It spoke to me on so many levels, that I did not know whether to laugh or cry – so I did a bit of both. Seeing beings communicate with Spirit in such a natural way, as part of the normal day to day life was like deja-vou to me. Please go see this movie – you really won’t regret it! And when it comes out on DVD, look out!!!
I went to see the movie and loved, loved, loved it. I was so moved by the story, and at some scenes actually wanted to cry for the mindless distruction and joyful at the partnership and respect of nature. My son did not want to see this movie, he is 13, and afterward said that this movie was epic. It is a must see, and I plan to see again and again.
I have gone two times already it is a great movie and you are right it does grab the heart and soul. And you do see more the next time around.
Colette,
Again you are right on the money. I sat delighted about how much spirituality was in this film. Its is layered delicately in some areas thicker in others but its all essential to the movie.Although sci-fi,
there were themes of American imperialism, greed, materialism, racism and some other “isms” I’m probably forgetting. At my movie theatre, I detected the distinct scent of guilt among some audience members at the end. As an African American with Navajo Blood,a I felt pride for the mystism of both my peoples. As an American, I felt shame for our inexcuseable behavior towards people of all colors.
Hello Colette; I went to see the movie yesterday with my husband and three kids. I loved the movie, and I could not stop myself crying and sayin “no, no, no” when the tree of life was being destroyed, it broke my heart…. but it was not just me who loved it, my husband enjoyed it very much and at the end of the movie kept asking my three children what the movie ment to them and what kind of message it brought to them. He was really impressed, because he kept talking about it (something that doesn’t really happen with him.) The spiritual part is definitely there and it touched my entire family.
Okay I admit it, I am one of those people that swore I would not see this movie. I am now convinced I need to go see it. Thanks for the blog.
I to look forward to seeing it the second time (this weekend) although this time with my husband who is the least bit spiritual. I know that he will resonate with this one. I look forward to your insight again on part 2.
Blessings,
Helen P
I think this movie was the most powerful movie I have ever seen. The messages were profound and so spiritual; the veil is really thinning and the message is getting around. I cried for most of the movie because it really touched my soul; we are all connected and so powerful beyond measures. God is brilliant and always on time. We need to know that we are connected to every living molecule in this Universe and we are all truly ONE. Without giving the movie away; it also made me very sad because some of us are so consumed with materialistic possesion, thinking that “something” or “someone” will make us happy, when in actuality the spirit only knows Joy and Happiness. I Love you fellow SisterS and BrotherS and “I SEE YOU”.
As a woman who generally avoids sci-fi at all costs, I was coaxed into going to this movie with my family on Christmas night. Intellectually, I was skeptical about going. Intuitively, I was was being pulled to the theater like a magnet. I left that theater a changed soul. What I experienced can only be described as an alteration of consciousness on a cellular level. Honestly, the message of the movie was nothing new to me. I knew all of it before I went. What I experienced was that, I truly felt it for the first time. To the depths of my soul. I was left to ponder after wards, “Was what I felt, spirit connecting with me, to transcend me?” Or was it the connection to others experiencing the same thing that I was feeling so profoundly. I have decided that it was both. Spirit got my attention this Christmas night and I am profoundly grateful. One sentence in this movie stays with me every day. And it reminds me to look through the exterior of others to the God presence that resides within us all. I see you….
It is without a doubt a movie directly from the divine. I never intended to see it, after many many messages all over the place to see it, I saw it.
It was clear from the very begining, just the first minutes in fact(first message I received)that we need to see past the finite human mind and realize the infinite divine mind ALWAYS brings to us patiently and continually the best possible solution for the greater good….if we can just stop fighting it with out finite conscious human mind…. this entire movie is perfect and will in fact awaken many.
Colette,
I am with you 100% about Avatar. I just read your incredible first article and of course, I received the sign from Spirit that I usually do when I read anything you write or anything that resonates with me on a spiritual level – I got goose bumps (just as I did while watching Avatar). I always get that little Divine chill through my entire body about things like this! That’s how Spirit usually validates for me that I’m on the right track – goosebumps and 11:11). I absolutely feel the same way you do about this film and I am so grateful to you for writing about it and sharing your thoughts with us. Avatar moved me so deeply when I saw it (I have seen it only once so far as well, but like you, I look forward to seeing it again and again). I was very emotional watching it and I remember thinking, at last, somebody has made a movie about this! Thank you so much for investing your time and energy into writing about this film and it’s messages from Spirit. I look forward to reading your next blog and just want you to know how much I love what you are doing. I am with you!
It changed my life and the DOUBT that I had in my mind about my own power as a seer. I love Avatar and I plan on seeing it over and over. How excellent it was to finally see a movie that pointed out SO MUCH of humanities’ spiritual illnesses, in such precise ways. It covered racism, sexism, hate. I like that it covered love, connections to ALL living things and even the importance of speaking and listening to Our Creator. You name it, it was there.
I am with you on getting people to see this movie. This is a movie for all minds.
Love you and the messages you send, sister.

I saw Avatar quite by mistake. Alvin and the Chipmunks was sold out.
I guess Spirit was speaking to me loud and clear. Although I was dragged out of the theater a couple of times by my 3 year old, what I did see was breathtaking. Yes, there were to many helicopters. My breath was absolutely taken away by what I saw, and felt, and thought my heart would absolutely burst. Amazing to say the least. I can’t wait to read what you have to say Colette!
I am so glad I ran into your articles on the movie– I have been debating whether to go see this or not, wasn’t sure if it was just blood and gore! Thanks so much.

Dear Collette and all others,
Avatar completely astounded me!! I was so moved by the connection to space, space and life; it truly touched the depths of my soul and spirit…and every time l see the movie, more is revealed. How exciting!
I’ve read many articles about Avatar but until now, l despaired at why so many couldn’t seem to ‘get it’; even my academic colleagues at the university where l work prefer to focus on the ‘white issue’.
The only movie, prior to Avatar that touched me in a similar way is, “Spirit, Stallion of the Cimaron”, an animated movie about a horse which l highly recommend.
Love and blessings to all,
Linda xoxo
A friend I work with saw Avatar before me. On asking her how it was, she gave such a detailed, passionate explanation of what she saw. I was in awe as she explained with so much enthusiasm all the aspects (messages) of the movie. I replied with “That’s how the planet works dear heart. Its how I try to live my life”. It was so refreshing to see my young co-worker marvel at the content. I saw Avatar shortly after and can not explain how my heart space sang at impressions this movie creates. It is brilliant. Absolutely brilliant. I hope people realise that the content is real.

www.shelleyvonstrunckel.comNo Aries is happy about being cornered into doing anything. But the circumstances triggered by your ruler Mars' encounter with the fair but tough Saturn indicate exactly that. Battle these if you must. Ultimately, however, you'll realise that tedious as these seem, tacking them would be in your best interests. By Shelley von Strunckel
Obviously you're unhappy that others are making decisions that should be yours to deal with. And this is especially true now, since these are bringing changes as disruptive as they'd be unnecessary. Or so you think. Discuss this with the person in question. Their reasoning is likely to win you over. By Shelley von Strunckel
The secret to getting through the next few days successfully is to regard even the simplest of arrangements as but one stage in many. That way when the unsettling and often unexpected developments triggered by the current rather intense planetary activity take place, you'll make whatever adjustments are needed, and without any dramas. By Shelley von Strunckel
If you're worried about something or someone, you'll usually reflect on past experience until you feel you understand what you're facing. However, with so much in transition, such a review will only confuse matters. Instead, discuss concerns openly with others. Daunting as this seems initially, what you learn could revolutionise your outlook. By Shelley von Strunckel
With both Saturn and, as of now, the impatient Mars accenting your perspective on various crucial decisions, you could rush into things. The trick is to react swiftly but make no arrangements you can't reorganise. What you discover over the coming weeks could be surprising, enough to substantially alter your thinking and priorities. By Shelley von Strunckel
Now that both Saturn and, as of yesterday, Mars, have departed your sign, you get a break. This is a relief, but you won't entirely escape this period of dramatic change. Rather, you'll no longer feel you're responsible for holding everything together, as you have for most of the past three years. By Shelley von Strunckel
As a Libra you often agonise over decisions. This is particularly the case now, because situations are pressing and you're conscious that what you opt for will profoundly influence others. Still, your priority must be you. Discuss this if you must, but only to explain your thinking. Not to obtain anybody's approval. By Shelley von Strunckel
When there's anything you regard as unwise or simply don't want to do, you'll find a diplomatic yet firm way to avoid it. Often without those involved realising they've been refused. Now, however, you're urged to talk this through. Only once you do, will you recognise just how much you'd be missing. By Shelley von Strunckel
Occasionally you'll gloss over tedious details because you expect others to be as bored with them as you are. On the contrary, not only are certain individuals actually interested in these, allow them to take the lead and they'll offer invaluable insights and guidance about how you should be handling such matters. By Shelley von Strunckel
Inevitably, your ruler Saturn's recent move into the gracious Libra will make you even more conscious than usual about the need to handle sensitive situations diplomatically. Still, with things so urgent at the moment, you'll probably have to employ a firm hand when it comes to planning, but combine it with a gentle touch. By Shelley von Strunckel
Sometimes it's not until others challenge your views that you actually stop to think them through. This certainly appears to be the case now. Annoying as a few of the issues being raised seem, they're forcing you to examine what's behind certain ideals and objectives. And just when such a process is timely. By Shelley von Strunckel
You're about to go to battle over an issue that simply isn't as important as it once was. But you resist acknowledging that things have changed. Do so and you'll not only liberate yourself from a tedious and increasingly time-consuming drama, you'll be free for other, far more rewarding, pursuits. By Shelley von Strunckel
