Take a Spiritual Selfie & Lessons from the Goddess Green Tara!

Updated: February 25, 2019

This week I am spotlighting the Tibetan goddess Green Tara. When I was searching for a goddess to bring us a message this week, I wanted to find one from Tibet since it was at a Tibetan temple in Toronto that I first learned to take meditation seriously 33 years ago. My spiritual practice in the early days was greatly influenced by my experience with Tibetan Buddhism.

There are many aspects of the goddess Tara (many colors too!) but Green Tara is my favorite because in this aspect known as “she who saves” she represents the enlightened activity of us when we recognize that we can’t do life by ourselves. We need each other and we need to be in a relationship with one another, without being in a codependent trap, as highlighted by the goddess Demeter in the alignment position in this week’s reading. As a goddess, Green Tara is very loving and inclusive and is known to be everyone’s best friend especially when you really need one. Inherent in that friendship is the kind of salvation we often think has to come from someone who rescues us.

The Truth is that she represents unconditional love and the commitment to be present without trying to fix or manipulate anything. That’s the enlightened activity here, and the question is, “can we befriend our lives, become our own best friends and love every part of us that feels unworthy, jealous or needy, too hungry, too ambitious, impoverished, or fearful or just lost without purpose?” We have to do this if we are going to move on from our conditioned personal narratives.

I love this goddess and her power of friendship.

For in true friendship we are all saved.

One way that we can work on our relationship with our selves is to use the Oracle Cards as mirrors to help reflect where we are in our journey of self-awareness and self-love.

Oracle Cards can be like spiritual Selfies… they help us see ourselves through eyes of love (just as the Universe sees us) and invite us to understand exactly what we need to know for our highest good.

Oracle Cards are an instrument to give us instant insight, by holding up a mirror that confirms what our bodies tell us already, but we may not know how to understand. Our egos may want what we want, when and how we want it, but the Universe knows how to splash water on our faces, wake us up, and then gently guide us back to the path that is uniquely ours, and what is truly in our best interest.

Oracle Cards are snapshots taken in the ocean of your life, that show the water and the waves, the sand, and all the things you cannot see.

Think of it this way, in a society of selfies, Oracle Cards are like taking a selfie with the Universe behind you photo-bombing! There’s always more than you expect in the picture.

When you work with the cards personally, you can come to expect to see the photobomb. Look for it. Ask the question of the Universe to show you the truth and show you what you need to know for your highest good. Take the snapshot, and then you can see with more clarity and understand exactly what you need to know to keep you in alignment. The cards will help you stay on track, even when you are not feeling confident, you’ll know that the Universe is always there to help guide you to stay in the flow of compassion and self-love.

And now it’s your turn to have some fun and let us know about your favorite Oracle Card and what it means to you by taking your own Oracle Card Selfie! Post it on social media and hashtag #colettebaronreid & #oraclecardselfie & the name of the deck you got your card from along with a note about your experience with the card in the description of your public post. Do this and you’ll automatically be entered to win a free Goddess Power Oracle card deck from me! There will be monthly prize winners. Learn more here.

Colette I love the goddess deck. It is such a powerful group of women. I always stayed away from myths & goddesses because in my mind it wasn’t real. As I mature I find the value of these stories & I am learning more everyday. Thank you!

well, if you look at the archetypal energies of the myths you will realize they represent aspects within us so although their stories may seem “unreal” their energy and lessons they impart are true/. 😉

This reading is so spot on for where I am at this week. My younger sister, who has been living with me for about a year, just gave me her notice that she is moving out. I am really surprised by the feeling that I’ve had since and the amount of negative self talk. As I listened to your reading a couple of times, I realized I am in a co-dependant relationship here. I think I felt good helping my sister and I guess if I’m honest I feel hurt and a bit resentful that she is getting on without me. (And how crazy is that) I should be super happy for her she’s pulling her life back together and will have her own place. I think Demeter in alignment is sooo speaking to me. Thank you for this reading. It is reminding me to look within and “help” myself and to build healthy boundaries and really work on self love. I absolutely love the Goddess deck

    Hi Colette,
The cards are amazing and quite accurate. I love them so much. Thank you.
One question, what if when going online and picking the other 3 cards for the week, I pick a card that you have already drawn. What does that mean/say?
    Thank u & blessings.

I love the idea of the “selfie” with the Universe photo bombing. What a wonderful analogy! I have just begun using your new Goddess Oracle deck for readings. Thank you for the insightful messages.

Absolutely LOVE this phrase … feel like I was guided to it as I sit here creating a talk to give to the ‘Uniteens’ about Angels and Oracle cards this Sunday, March 3rd!
And YES, your oracle cards are for sale in our Unity bookstore!! 🙂
