If you haven’t seen it…

Now, I’ll bet you’re thinking,

Here we go again. Colette’s going to tell us this is a perfect example of;

  • We are all one
  • We should spread the love
  • We should live in balance with the natural world

Actually, I’m not going to do that.

I don’t have to…because you did it for me!

More importantly, you did it for yourselves.

Which is a great thing.

It’s along the same lines of a parent who tells you a million times to look both ways before crossing the street. You roll your eyes once you’ve heard it again and again but, one day, you’re walking along talking on your cell phone, you step off a curb – starting to cross the street – and a little voice inside screams, “STOP”!

Without even really thinking about it you do stop…right as a city bus blows past and scares the heck out of you because, in a nanosecond, you realize you almost walked in front of it.

Certainly I am not suggesting that I’m trying to parent you. And I’m not suggesting indoctrination is a good thing.

What I am saying is this; humans are creatures of habit. Social change is slow. But, no matter how many times I have to address these things – no matter how many creative ways I have to come up with the make the same points – I’ll do so. I’m committed to being a messenger.

It is, after all, what my life’s work is about…on a myriad of levels.

One more thing before I tell you what all this has to do with “Otters Holding Hands”…

The next time you’re rolling your eyes at someone who is passing along a message for the millionth time…put yourself in their shoes and wonder if they ever roll their eyes at you because, for the millionth time, you haven’t “gotten it”…

Why I Otter 1

Ok…back to our regularly scheduled Otters…

Besides being one of the most adorable videos out there, the Otter vid is an incredible Oracle Messenger and divination and meditation tool.

In my book, “Messages From Spirit”, I write;

“To see myself used by Spirit in such a way – as a conduit for someone else’s wonder and peace of mind – is an extraordinary gift. I am humbled by it daily. Seeing someone’s face light up in awe after receiving the information is incredible”.

-  Colette Baron-Reid “Messages From Spirit”

Though the statement was born of my experience in giving a reading, I believe its significance holds true for every interaction.

In the 23,638,942 (as of the writing of this post) people who’ve seen the “Otters Holding HaWhy I Otter 3nds” video, how many millions and millions of Oracle Messages were passed along?

“I love you”, “Please forgive me”, “I know you needed a smile today”…whether you received the message or sent the message the bottom line is…there was a message from Spirit that came through…to all parties involved in the interaction.

As a divination and meditation tool, try this…turn off all sound around you…watch the video. Breathe in, breathe out and focus on the totally relaxed Otters, the slow drifting of them in the water and the water, itself.

Your consciousness will know that Otters have long been symbols of playfulness, faithfulness and grace. The Otter is associated with feminine energy. She teaches people to relax and helps them find their own unique talents.

Likewise, your consciousness will remind you that the symbol of water is the symbol of life, itself. Additionally, water is transformative, purifying and reflective.

Now add the symbolism of the otters and the symbolism of water with the accumulated positivity that’s floating around our universe because of this video and the wellspring of good energy available to tap into for purposes of divination and meditation is intense.

Once you’ve quieted your body and mind, ask a question of Spirit and see what answers you come up with.

Experience how you feel.

For some, the “Otters Holding Hands” video is just a cute video providing a brief respite from the frenetic energy of the day. They may not give it another thought.

But, for those who look further, the chain of events is purposeful.

  • Two sea otters start holding “hands”.
  • Someone has a video camera.
  • The otters drift apart.
  • Patiently they wait and come back together when the time is right.
  • Someone loads the video on YouTube.
  • It goes viral overnight.

Remember, things are not always as they appear to be on the surface. It is our job to look past the obvious, to put forth the effort and not just take the path of least resistance.

The next time you’re unsure about something, reread this article and watch the video. Still your mind and the answer will come.

In no time you’ll be thinking;

“Why I Otter…”!

    What really got me is the sincere, nurturing look in the otter parents eyes while grasping on to its young-ling. It shows you that the animal world is not much different from ours. We should learn to respect it and treat as our own and the picture is just so cute! I can not take my eyes off of it. :) Thank you very much Colette for your words of insight and the drive to help and heal, I am very grateful to have you in this life to help show us the way. Much Love

    Colette gives me guidance and tells me exactly what I need to hear for today. This act of the purest form of love as friends between the carefree otters helps me surrender to love and let God have control of my yearning for love and journey one step closert to finding my soulmate.
