Every year gets an ending, but this one carries an extra thrum in its bones. I’ve felt it, and maybe you have too? That subtle inner nudge that says, pay attention here.
In numerology, a 9-year cycle is a cosmic decluttering period; a spiritual compost bin; the universe gently asking, “Oh honey, are you really gonna pack all that up with you again??” And with 2025 being a global 9 year, that question feels especially timely.
So as this cycle closes, here are nine ways to wrap up the year without dragging your old stories into the next one like a suitcase with one busted wheel.
1. Retire the story that keeps auditioning for your attention.
You know the one; the plotline that circles like it misplaced the exit ramp and keeps waving at you from the rearview mirror. In my experience, when a story shows up again and again, it’s usually asking to be witnessed one last time before it heads to the great cosmic compost bin.
How to:
- Sit with the old narrative and thank it for how it tried to protect you.
- Write one upgraded truth, a gentler, more accurate version of the story that reflects who you are now.
- Example: Old story: “I always mess things up.”
- Upgraded truth: “I learn quickly and course-correct with grace.”
- Bless the story and let it settle into the past. It’s done its job.
2. Clear your physical and digital spaces.
Your desk holds energy; your inbox holds despair; your phone holds seven years of screenshots you never looked at twice. Clutter (seen or unseen) tends to collect the stories we’ve outgrown.
How to:
- Choose one physical space and one digital space and clear them today.
- Delete, archive, release.
- Your nervous system will send you a thank-you card… and you may feel a little more spacious inside, too.
3. Doodle the emotional residue out of your system.
A pen can move what the body tries to store. Sometimes that little scribble becomes a portal for release. I even share a “frequency-clearing drawing” on page 77 of my book, The Art of Manifesting, because this simple act can shift your whole vibration.
How to:
- Grab any piece of paper; draw wavy lines that refuse to repeat; follow them until something in you exhales.
- You can also yell at it while scribbling OUT OUT OUT!!
- This is like having a big O with good lighting and angels singing.
4. Complete one avoided task as a sacred jailbreak.
Unfinished business steals life force. You can feel it…those loose ends tug at your energy like little anchors. And Spirit has a way of highlighting the things we keep sidestepping as a way to invite us into a cleaner, clearer field.
How to:
- Pick the task with the most psychic drag; set a five-minute timer; begin.
- Completing the task is like a love letter to your future self.
5. Release the identity that no longer fits.
Some versions of you were necessary; some were costumes with feathery masks; some were borrowed and well past their expiry date. And some were simply placeholders that helped you survive until you could grow into more of your true self.
How to:
- Place a hand on your heart; name the identity that has expired; whisper, “Thank you; I’m choosing differently now.”
- Feel the shift as you imagine who you want to become.
6. Untangle the cords that keep tugging at your field.
Energetic clutter is real, and it rarely asks permission before rearranging your mood. Those invisible threads can hold old emotions, unspoken expectations, and echoes of conversations you stopped having months ago.
How to:
- Imagine the person or situation; see the cords loosening; softening; slipping away.
- Offer neutrality to them and freedom to yourself.
- If you need a little support, I have a gentle 5-minute cord-cutting meditation on my YouTube channel that will walk you through it for free.
7. Honour your wins like they actually count.
The nervous system does not register success unless you pause long enough to feel it. And the Universe responds when you acknowledge what’s working! It strengthens the vibration you’re choosing to carry forward.
How to:
- Light a candle; name three things you did well; let the recognition sink in.
- This is how you build inner scaffolding that can hold the next dream.
8. Give your dreams a place to land.
Some dreams are complete; some have served their purpose; some were beautiful stepping stones. But before the next dream arrives, you need a little spaciousness in your field.
How to:
- Take one dream that feels outdated or heavy; write it on a small piece of paper; fold it once; set it somewhere peaceful.
- Then give your new dreams a canvas by joining me for my free A New Way to Vision Board event in January! When you register now, you’ll get my free Inspired Action Workbook to help you prepare.
9. Stop holding out for one more sign.
You have received signs; nudges; synchronicities; those perfectly timed “you can’t make this up” moments. I know how easy it is to keep asking Spirit for just one more confirmation, especially when the next step feels tender or big. But there comes a point when the waiting becomes a way of avoiding your own wisdom.
How to:
- Ask, “If I trusted the signs I already received, what would I do next?”
- That answer is your new beginning.
The year is ending. The cycle is ending, and you’re setting down what no longer needs to come with you. This is the natural pause before things shift. This is a moment to breathe, clear the clutter, and feel your feet underneath you again.
I hope these 9 steps help you step forward with a lighter heart and a cleaner field. The next year is ready for you, and you’ll meet it with more clarity because you’ve made space for what truly matters.
Love,
Colette
