These days I’m noticing how many more people are talking about being at a crossroads, in transition, and often lost or at odds with themselves, yet they still feel there is more and could be.
Granted, my attention is here because it’s the time of year when I begin DreamQuest, my annual small group mastermind where our focus is about how to give ourselves permission to dream, and often simultaneously permission to reclaim a part of ourselves we may have abandoned.
So, what does it mean when you keep feeling called toward something, but you’re torn because you’ve been conditioned to believe you’re not right for it—too old, too late, too loud, not good enough anyway, etc., etc. (fill in the blanks after more too-too-toos)?
You might have filed that information in the back of your psyche and spent most of your life trying to circumvent it all. So, maybe you gave up? Or maybe you’re too exhausted to care? I get it. This world is very tiring lately.
But even still, that voice inside you keeps saying, “This matters! You need to do this. You need to give yourself permission to step forward.”
Where?
Ah, that is the best question we don’t get to actually know the answer until we take the step.
The true nature of uplevelling now is steeped in uncertainty. The other side of transition is less about achievement and more about fulfillment, about creating for the sake of finding flow, not even needing to know what comes of it, to rediscover who you are, why you’re here and making the most out of whatever life you have left.
There’s an urgency I feel these days about keeping it real, keeping our humanity sacred, as the chaos of our new entrance into this technologically charged world threatens something deep and ancient in all of us.
That’s why when you get that call…that sense that there is more for you to do and experience? Pick up that phone and don’t hang up!
If it’s meant to be expressed through you, it will keep ringing until you say yes, even if you first say no. Like the classical hero’s journey, you’re going on an adventure!
I think it’s so important to listen to that voice and to not wait for anyone else to give you permission. You get to give that to yourself.
You and your Higher Power and your soul made a deal to live fully and deeply while you’re here in this Earth school.
So, if you feel the urge to reclaim something you left behind, the way I did with music, do it and don’t wait for the fear to clear before you take that step. When we are at a threshold of the unknown, none of us will feel grounded.
That’s the nature of uncertainty and the unknown. “I don’t know” is the right thing to know.
What would you choose even if success wasn’t guaranteed?
It’s never too late to follow a new dream, or claim one you left behind.
