The Magic of Summer Solstice!

Updated: June 14, 2022

What Light Can You Bring To The World?

Summer is almost here!

And, while this time of year is often spent vacationing and sipping fruity drinks by the pool, summer is actually the perfect time to take stock of your life and refocus on what you want to call into your life for the remainder of the year.

Each year, there are two very important celestial events and markers of seasonal time – the Summer Solstice and the Winter Solstice. On June 21, we celebrate the 2022 Summer Solstice in the Northern Hemisphere and those in the Southern Hemisphere celebrate the Winter Solstice.

Where I live in the Northern Hemisphere, this is the day when the sun reaches the highest point in the sky. It is also the first day of summer. As the lightest and longest day of the year, the Summer Solstice beckons you to celebrate your own inner light and evaluate how you can share it with the world around you. It is also a powerful time to connect with the Universe, tap into your intuition, and plant the seeds for your ultimate destiny.

A Moment To Pause And Evaluate

Civilizations have for centuries honored the significance of the Summer Solstice. For our ancestors, the Summer Solstice fell in between the planting and harvesting of crops, which meant it was a time to pause and a time to celebrate.

In light of this energy, the solstice still marks a perfect time to take a pause out of your daily life and evaluate your dreams and intentions for the rest of the year.

Perhaps the most enduring modern ties with the Summer Solstice were the Druids’ celebration of the day as the “wedding of Heaven and Earth.” These days, most of us celebrate the first day of summer with community fairs and barbeques, but much of the greater significance of the day has gotten lost in the shuffle. Until now, of course!

We get the opportunity to reclaim the magic of the solstice by contemplating on our own light and how much life force energy we are bringing to the things that matter to us.

A Simple Exercise To Honor The Summer Solstice

I’d like to invite you to join me in honoring the week of the Summer Solstice by taking an inventory of your life.

During the week following June 21, set aside some time to ask yourself the following questions. I highly recommend that you write your thoughts down in a journal so that you can go back to them on the next solstice. And, remember to use your intuition!

Summer Solstice Journaling Prompts

  • Since the last Summer Solstice, what has grown in my life? And what am I proud of? (Be sure to make a long list of all your accomplishments and qualities, even the smaller ones!)
  • What light do I bring to the world? How can I further share my inner light with others and the Universe?
  • Am I reaping what I’ve sown? Are my efforts moving me forward on my path? If not, what is blocking me and how can I regroup? (Trust your intuition on this!)
  • What do I need to tend to in my life? What do I want to change?
  • What do I want to manifest for the rest of the year? And, what are the steps I need to take to nurture those goals?

If you have a vision board, I also recommend that you look it over and make changes if necessary.

Meditations and Spiritual Practices for the Summer Solstice

From June 21st until June 26th, take a moment daily to meditate about the magnificent power of the sun and its light.

As I talk about in detail in my books Remembering the Future and Messages From Spirit, we are intrinsically connected with the vast world around us. So when you take some time to honor the sun, you also open yourself to your intuition and Divine guidance.

Summer Solstice Guided Meditation

For a chance to connect even more deeply with the sun’s energy this solstice, you might want to try the Sound of the Sun, an amazing guided meditation I created with NASA’s Sound of the Sun recordings blended into the music to create an effect that goes beyond just being a meditative tool. This is one of my favorite meditations! You can listen to a preview below:

Summer Solstice Oracle Card Spreads

This year’s solstice also happens to be following a Full Moon on June 15th. This is another wonderful opportunity to be connected to the cycles of nature leading into this potent and magical week. If you want to harness the energy of the full moon while you prepare for the solstice, download my guide to Oracle Card spreads for Full and New Moons.

Since the Summer Solstice is the perfect time for evaluation and connecting to the Universe, I also highly encourage you to pull an Oracle Card to see what you need to focus on during the solstice week.

Pull out your favorite deck or click here to use one of my Oracle decks for a free Oracle card reading and simply ask a question like, What do I need to focus on during the week of the Summer Solstice for my highest good and the highest good of all?

Then, write down the card you pulled, the message from the guidebook, and what that card means for you.

Summer Solstice Spiritual Rituals

As I wrote about last year, The Summer Solstice is a beautiful time to practice self-care, to connect with yourself and the Universe through spiritual rituals, and to take advantage of the energies of illumination and clarity to invest in your healing and growth. One way you can do that is through a healing bath ritual.

Here is one of my favorite ritual bath recipes that I use, but you can make it your own. Use essential oils and salts that are meaningful to you. You can light candles and place them safely around your bath. You can even add flower petals and water-safe crystals to your bath water. Follow your intuition and create the bath that feels right for you!

Solstice Ritual Bath Soak:

Fill a bath with warm water and add set an intention while you add the following:

  • 2 cups of pink Himalayan sea salt
  • 2 drops of Ylang Ylang oil for love
  • 5 drops of Lavender oil for calm
  • 5 drops of Eucalyptus to “keep the air clean”
  • Add any local seasonal flower petals, meaningful crystals, or other oils that fill you with happiness

Soak in your cleansing ritual bath and allow yourself to tune into the healing and loving energy present during this time of year.

How Do You Celebrate the Solstice?

I love hearing about all of the unique ways people celebrate the solstice. How will you spend this magical week? What are some ways you can share more of your inner light with the world? Share with me in the comments!

In service and love,

I, like many other beautiful souls, have faced many challenges. I was lost for a while and couldn’t find direction. I am now starting to breakthrough the clouds and feel like I have direction and more focus. My question is, I haven’t been able to do a vision board for the last few years. Can I create one even though we are almost halfway through the year? I know that it may sound silly to ask but I was just curious to know if it’s still possible.

    Thank you and take care!

I logged into the solstice video but had missed it because I realized that I didn’t have the right time zone. Will the replay be available in the oracle circle or could I get the link in my email? I was trying to check that I was subscribed and think I may have unsubscribed by mistake since I haven’t received any emails. Is there a way I can re sign up for the emails?
