What Holy Water, Acrylic Paint and Interdimensional Beings Have In Common!

This week I experienced awe, joy, and celebration, and I wanted to share it with you! An advance copy of my new deck of Oracle cards, Guides of the Hidden Realms, was delivered to my house. 

This is the first Oracle deck where I did all the art and illustrations myself!  

I cried like a baby when I opened them and saw how gorgeous they were.  

It took almost 2 years to complete and I can’t even believe what happened as the whole journey was like a wild dream but here was proof in a box!  

Let me tell you the story. In the late summer of 2021, I was on the verge of burnout (yikes embarrassed to admit, but hmmm do we see a theme here?) and I felt a need to withdraw into something creative to balance out all the pain and chaos that I was tuning into as an empath.  

I knew it was getting worse and if I was going to continue to serve with genuine clarity and compassion, I had to find balance for myself. So I got off social media other than what was necessary and canceled all my other mindless habits.  

Normally, music would call me, but this time was different.  

My friend Anna and I decided to take an online painting class. I hadn’t picked up a paintbrush in 35 years, even though I had once made a living painting on people’s clothes. I couldn’t even remember how to draw! 

And so my adventure began…  

In a nutshell, I started the class and “decided to” paint. Whenever I would try to paint something from my imagination by decision or choice nothing good or pretty would happen. I’d get so frustrated, so mad I wanted to quit. What the heck, more pressure that I did not need.  

So instead of getting mad, I meditated, and slowly but surely a blue face came to me, an interdimensional being that rose up out of dark blue water filled with brambles and pearls, under a shining full Fairy moon. This being exuded so much love and compassion gently calling my serenity out of exile.  

It took me 5 weeks to get the first painting right. I was translating what I saw onto the canvas the best I could.  

Every time I closed my eyes there they were!  

I got used to it after a while, but at first it was pretty weird. Then again, if you know me, well… makes total sense since I do spend more time over “there” than “here”, hence why I bump into walls and break feet etc. 

Anyway, I digress.  

Once I completed the first one, again, in meditation, more of these faces and beings, surrounded by symbols and light language, and jewel tone colors began to visit me, and I was compelled to paint them. They were / are very much alive!  

One of the blue beings insisted I go get holy water and paint with it, add it to the paint, spray the canvases with it. And so I did. Holy water from Lourdes, Glastonbury, Peru, and a church in Santa Fe are on every one of them.  

After shyly sharing the first 5 of them with the powers that be at Hay House they suggested this would be an Oracle deck. That was NOT my plan. (Ask me about the imposter army in my head rallying the troops!)  

At first, I was terrified as I was painting on big canvases. How would I ever be able to do this? And also how do I know more of these beings would even show up? It’s not like I could pick up a megaphone and shout into the Hidden Realms and say “NEXT!”  

So, I had to surrender.  

I got quiet and got a clear message to keep going.  

The result is hard for me to comprehend, but when we say to the Universe, “Use me as thou wilt, thy will be done through me for the highest good,” We can all be surprised at what happens.  

I just kept going, they showed up every 10 days to 2 weeks and invited me to their essence. Many of them were translucent, so when you look closely at the paintings they appear to be still part of the background they present themselves through.  

There were so many eyes, familiar eyes and I had always doodled eyes and so they were my most important focal points.  

Anyway, when they were complete they all got their last spray of holy water and my husband took their photos and off they went to Hay House.

It’s so interesting when we give ourselves over to Spirit how our mission kicks in, timelessness surrounds us and something we never expected comes through us. It really does feel like giving birth!
